Russia: Open to the world

According to the authors of the report, Russia offers a wide range of versatile opportunities for holding business meetings and events of all scales and at all levels. The diversity of Russian regions in terms of industries, science specialization, infrastructure, and unique local features allows the Russian Convention Bureau to make a tailor-cut offer for any request for a business or cultural event. Russia has a great potential as a destination for conference and business tourism, and furthermore, it can also be a very interesting place for visitors because, being a multinational and multicultural country, it has a rich cultural and historical heritage.

Russian Convention Bureau

The Russian Convention Bureau (RCB) is an association currently having about 100 members which represent the leaders of the event industry in Russia. The RCB assists foreign event organizers with finding local partners and suppliers, offers full support of bidding procedures, organizes bid presentations, and provides visa support to event participants. In some cases, the RCB can guarantee special rates from RCB partners for air tickets, hotels and transfer.

The report also lists upcoming events to be held in Russia with support from the RCB, including IPHS 2020 (International Planning History Society Conference), the Association of Space Explorers XXXIV Planetary Congress, and other equally important and widely acclaimed events.

Russian Regions Event Potential

In 2018, the R&C Market Research Company conducted its fifth study of the event potential of the Russian regions and published its Russian Regions Event Potential Rating. The top three positions in the Rating were taken by St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, and Sochi. Since the first rating was published in 2014, the event market in Russia has undergone a significant change. According to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Russia has attracted and held more than 400 international rotating association events.
The final section of the report features a list of forthcoming events to be held by the Roscongress Foundation, Russia’s largest organizer of congress and exhibition events, and short profiles («business cards») of five Russian regions describing their event potential.

Foreign Tourists in Russia. Preferences of Active Travelers from China, Japan, South Korea, Great Britain and Germany

Tourism not only plays a vital role in the economic growth, but also significantly affects its image as a whole, influencing, among other things, the investment attractiveness. Today there are favorable conditions for the development of tourism in Russia. This is due to increased financial accessibility of travel, development of infrastructure and new directions for both traditional tourism and ecotourism. The attractiveness of many cities and territories is growing due to the preparation and holding of major international events: Sochi Olympics, Youth Festival, 2018 FIFA World Cup.
